The Infection Prevention & Control team at Woodstock Hospital works collaboratively to provide a safe and healthy environment for our patients, visitors, volunteers and staff. Our goal is to identify and reduce the risks of hospital acquired infections. This is accomplished through:
Staff and volunteers are provided infection control best practice training and education through a variety of forums such as orientation, policies and procedures and continuous point-in-time education.
There are also various opportunities for patients and visitors to engage in infection control awareness while at our facility.
We reference best practices guidelines and most current research to provide high-quality education.
Surveillance includes daily monitoring of infectious diseases that occur in our patients, staff and the community. We ensure that appropriate infection control measures are initiated in a timely manner.
We engage in ongoing trials and research projects to enhance staff and patient safety within the organization.
In the interest of patient safety, our department collaborates with internal and external partners. Some examples include the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, Southwestern Public Health Unit Woodstock, Public Health Ontario, other regional healthcare facilities and local emergency services. We rely on the collaboration with other programs and services to help us with keep our hospital a safe environment.
With the goal and vision of patient safety, we have a quality improvement plan in place to systematically analyze and evaluate our performance.
