Call Ahead Before Entering the Hospital!
If you suspect or confirm that you have measles or have been exposed to someone with measles, please call ahead before entering the hospital for any reason. Measles is highly contagious, and taking precautions is important to avoid spreading the virus to others. If you experience any of the following symptoms, DO NOT visit the hospital without notifying us first:
- High fever
- Rash (typically starting on the face and spreading downward)
- Cough
- Runny nose
- Red eyes
Why is this important?
Measles can spread quickly in public spaces, especially in healthcare settings where there are vulnerable patients, including those with weakened immune systems, infants, and pregnant individuals. By calling ahead, we can make arrangements to ensure your safety and the safety of others.
If you suspect or confirm that you have measles OR have been exposed to someone with measles in the past 21 days:
If you need EMERGENCY CARE:
- For symptoms of measles (fever and red rash and/or cough, runny nose, etc.)
OR
- For another reason AND you have been in contact with someone with measles in the last 21 days

If you are in your third trimester or have any additional medical concerns, your provider will assess the need for further monitoring.
